Project description:
The LiSyM Cancer Network is an interdisciplinary collaboration dedicated to developing strategies for the early detection and prevention of liver cancer. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common form of liver cancer, is treatable at early stages and is associated with substantially improved survival. However, the majority of HCC cases are diagnosed too late, underscoring the urgent need for more effective early detection approaches.
The DEEP-HCC network addresses this challenge by focusing on the development of sensitive and specific model-based biomarkers for early-stage liver cancer detection. In close collaboration with consortium partners, the LMAI team is developing and implementing advanced analytical methods to characterize the lipid composition of the HCC organoid secretome. By quantitatively profiling bioactive lipid release and correlating these signatures with blood plasma lipidomic profiles, this work aims to establish a mechanistic link between systemic biomarkers and tissue-specific molecular signatures of HCC.
